What is e-Shram Card? This is a portal run by the central government for those working in the unorganized sector. (For example: laborers, farmers, auto drivers, small shopkeepers). Through this card, along with government schemes and pensions, you get free accident insurance of ₹2 lakh . As a student, you can get this for your parents or relatives.
Who can apply?
- People aged 16 to 59 years.
- Should not be a person having PF or pension in a government/private organization.
- They must be those who do not pay income tax.
Required documents (keep these ready):
- Aadhaar Card (Mobile number must be linked)
- Bank passbook (must be in the name of the account holder)
- Mobile number
Registration Steps in CSC (5 Easy Steps)
Step 1: Go to CSC Center Go to any CSC (Jana Seva Kendra) near you. Tell the operator there, "I want to get an e-Shram card."
Step 2: Mobile Number Verification Provide the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. An OTP (One Time Password) will be sent to that number. Tell it to the operator.
Step 3: The person taking the biometric card has to place their thumbprint on the fingerprint scanner. This confirms their identity.
Step 4: Entering details The CSC operator will type your details into the computer. You just need to say:
- Addhar Card
- Full name, parents'/husband's name
- Bank Account Number & IFSC Code
- Aadhar Link Mobile
What happens then?
- Within a few minutes of registration, you will receive a UAN (Universal Account Number) SMS on your mobile.
- Through that number, you can log in to the eshram.gov.in website and download or print your e-Shram card as a PDF .
Note: This card is very useful. If anyone in your family works in the unorganized sector, get them this card immediately!
